I'm Julie Casten, a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to providing a safe, non-judgmental environment that promotes emotional growth and self-acceptance.
I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transition, career related concerns, relationships, anger management, and trauma. I draw from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic Therapy, tailoring each session to meet your unique needs. I believe healing looks different for everyone, and I am here to support individuals, couples, and families - no matter your age or lifestyle.
Therapy is not just about healing, but about growth and self-discovery. Together, we will work to understand the patterns that are holding you back and build the tools you need to move forward with confidence and resilience.
If you’re feeling weighed down by ongoing sadness, anxiety, or stress, I want you to know you’re not alone, and you don’t have to face it by yourself. In our work together, I’ll help you better understand your emotions, uncover what’s contributing to your distress, and build practical tools to help you feel more in control.
Grief looks different for everyone, and there’s no “right” way to mourn. Whether you’re coping with the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or another significant loss, I’m here to support you through it. In our work together, we’ll create space for your pain, honor your experience, and gently explore ways to move forward at your own pace.
Experiences of trauma can leave lasting emotional and physical effects, often showing up in ways you might not expect. Whether your trauma stems from a single event or ongoing experiences, healing is possible. In our work together, I’ll provide a safe, supportive space where we can gently process your story, reduce distress, and help you reconnect with a sense of safety, strength, and self.
Relationships can be both meaningful and challenging. Whether you're struggling with communication, trust, conflict, or feeling disconnected from a partner, friend, or family member, therapy can help. In our work together, I’ll support you in understanding patterns, improving connection, and navigating difficult dynamics with clarity and compassion.
Career challenges can impact not just your work life, but your confidence, stress levels, and overall well-being. Whether you're facing burnout, navigating a career change, struggling with work-life balance, or feeling stuck, therapy can provide space to explore your goals and values.
When stress becomes constant or overwhelming, it can take a toll on your mind, body, and relationships. Whether you're dealing with daily pressures, major life changes, or burnout, therapy can help you find relief. In our work together, we’ll identify your stress triggers, build healthier coping strategies, and create space for calm and clarity in your life.
I have known I wanted to be a therapist since I took my first psychology class in college. I went on to earn my Master's degree from Loyola University Chicago and worked in community mental health for several years. In the meantime, I also provided counseling services in private practice. With decades of clinical experience and a genuine, lifelong dedication to understanding human behavior and emotional wellness, I continue to offer counseling services. My approach is collaborative, empathetic, and grounded in evidence-based practices.
Outside of my therapy practice, I enjoy my family and friends, coffee, travel, and sports. I am especially fond of all things Nebraska (Go Big Red) and Chicago (Go Cubs).
